When you live in Grand Junction, You don’t have to go far to give your kids a sweet fishing experience. 🎣Here are 4 great places to fish nearby:
🐟Snooks Bottom is in Fruita and is totally free for recreation and fishing!
🐟Connected Lakes can be accessed near the Safeway on Broadway in the Redlands. It is a state park so a fee is required (or the emblem on your vehicle registration if you paid extra for the state park pass).
🐟Corn Lake is also a state park, located in Clifton. I swear we see an Eagle there every time we go!
🐟Finally, the Fruita section of the James M. Robb State Parks! When we fished there last year each kid caught 16 tiny fish!
Fishing with kids can be a hassle, but a nearby location can make all the difference!
Keep in mind: anyone 16 and older needs a fishing license in Colorado, and they will check for it…especially at the state parks!

The Maroon Bells in Aspen, CO are just a short 2.5 hour drive from Grand Junction, making this another fabulous day trip idea for the whole family! Here are a couple things to know before you go:
✔️Due to high demand, You have to have a reservation in order to access the Maroon Bells, either by shuttle or parking.
✔️Parking at the shuttle stop is PRICEY, but Aspen has an incredible public transportation system that offers free park and ride and buses that can take you right to the shuttle stop.
✔️The scenic loop hike is just 2 miles long and totally doable for kids.
✔️There are many other trails to explore depending on how much time you have!
✔️It was a little smoky when we went due to a nearby wildfire!
✔️If you have time, take the bus into Aspen and walk around. It has a cute mountain-town vibe and an aesthetic that’s to die for!
This is a must do for those of us who call Colorado home, and it’s an easy day trip for those who live in Grand Junction!

There is so much buzz about Tiki Bird right now! It’s the new restaurant that took over the space on the corner of 7th and Main Street in Grand Junction.
The menu is everything chicken and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).
I got a Japanese BBQ Chix Stick and the Peaches & Cream Fizz. Let me just tell you…both things were INCREDIBLE! They used Palisade peach puree in the drink and I jokingly asked them to bring me a cup of just the puree…it was THAT good 😂.
The atmosphere is laid back and fun, with bocce ball out on the lawn to encourage a little friendly competition while you eat and sip.
I want to go back and try everything on the menu!
